There’s a specific kind of satisfaction in finally wearing an item that spent years gathering dust at the back of your closet. Case in point: this cream striped vest from SHEIN, bought during my clubbing era. For the longest time, it sat completely unworn—the low-cut neckline felt a bit too revealing, and I didn’t think I had the assets to pull it off. I was on the brink of giving it away until I realized all it needed was a functional base layer.
The missing piece turned out to be The Isabelle by Perk by Kate, which I own in black. Because it’s a wire-free, full-cup bralette, it offers coverage without any rigid structure or bulk.
The embroidered lace on delicate tulle is designed to be seen, making it ideal for low-cut tops, open shirts, or sheer layers. With straps that convert into straight, crossback, or halter styles, navigating tricky necklines is a breeze too.
I styled this bralette-and-vest combo with a vintage mini skirt passed down from my mum. It adds an instant touch of texture and nostalgia to my look. Because velvet inherently feels dressed up, it has become my go-to whenever I need a statement short skirt for a desk-to-drinks outfit.
For footwear, I went with a pair of square-toe boots from Pedro. I received them as a gift, and they quickly became one of the most comfortable options in my shoe rotation. To me, their standout feature would be the kitten heels sculpted in the shape of the brand’s logo. How clever is that?
To tie the look together, I opted for a black shoulder bag from Gotcha, a Thai brand. I picked it up simply because I fell in love with the fabric—a shiny, almost suede-like finish that catches the light beautifully. As a bonus, it’s deceptively spacious and holds everything I need for an evening out.
If you take just one cue from this look, let it be this: treat your innerwear as an extension of your outfit rather than something to hide. Letting a bit of lace peek through is the easiest way to hit that sweet spot between coverage, comfort, and polish!
